Pre-breeding/Pre-competitive breeding

The development of germplasm with a genetically broader base for utilization by breeders such as the introduction of exotic germplasm into a cultivar.

Predictive component of taxonomy

The idea that inferences or predictions can be made from taxonomy.

Propagule

Any structure with the capacity to give rise to a new plant whether through sexual or asexual (vegetative) reproduction. This includes seeds spores and any part of the vegetative body capable of independent growth if detached from the parent.
